Vane Tip Grinding Small Turbine Engines

Background:
A repair facility for small turbine engines needed a more efficient way to grind vane tips to match the rotor diameters at assembly.

Solution:
Everite provided a HG16 Horizontal Spindle ID Grinder to grind the fragile airfoil vanes to size without damage. The low grinding forces of he ECG cut allow the vanes to be ground without the additional clamping of each vane as needed with conventional grinding. Everite also provided a machine mounted laser measurement system to inspect the diameter of each stage in the machine after grinding.
