Filter Component

Customer:
Filtration Device Manufacturer
Background:
The tubular wedge wire fabrication is manufactured
from Stainless Steel, Inconel, or Hastaloy, as
a family of parts ranging in size based upon application.
The fabrication is constructed of a spiral wound
band around a cluster of axial and uniformly aligned
rod, forming a tubular structure. The cutoff process
requires the cutting medium to pass through all
of the structural components exposing many facets,
all of which would be very difficult, from which
to remove burrs.
Manufacturing Challenge:
Cut off short, accurate length sections from
a long tubular structure, protect feature integrity,
and minimize or eliminate burr generation. Previous
cutoff process included fine pitch saw and abrasive
blade cutoff. Fine pitch saw experienced very
poor saw blade life and required secondary burr
removal. Abrasive blade cutoff was responsible
for robust burr generation and time consuming
and costly burr removal.
Solution:
Everite Machine Products standard product offering
includes an Electrochemical Tube Cutoff Machine.
The Electrochemical Tube Cutoff Machine automatically
advances the work for preset cutoff length and
employs electrochemical technology for burr free
cutting. The Everite Electrochemical Tube Cutoff
Machine provided a simple means, addressing the
full family of parts, for accurate, burr free
cut to length filtration components. The parts
were electrochemically cut effectively and efficiently,
maintaining structural integrity, and completely
eliminating burrs. Cost savings and productivity
improvement, through elimination of secondary
operation burr removal, provided the customer
with very significant advantages.
